Budget-friend window covering for arched rectangular window

My neighbor has a rectangular window with an arched top and she's looking for budget friendly privacy for these windows. She got some custom prices for it and was put off. I thought there might be some less expensive options out there. Film perhaps?

My wife did a lot of interior design. Once in a while I would help her with blinds. I have grown really grumpy about people who want a budget priced blind. Look at that window - first you have to have at least a 12' ladder to measure it, and then if something is available, you need to return and install it. Then they want it for $100.

Film or glass would be your options. Getting a custom made window is not cheap.

Oh, and they want you to come out to the house on THEIR schedule and give a FREE estimate. They have NO respect for your time, investment in equipment, or expertise. That's why I would not do residential work.

When my wife got a retail job - like for blinds / cellular / etc - I used my own measuring system: I wrote the dimensions 1" wider, and 2" shorter. I put a special mark on the quote. There are enough people who want you the measure the windows, then say "I'll think about it" - blow you off. Then go to Home Depot.

Sooo - over the years we have gotten more than several calls saying - your measurements aren't correct. Worse yet, they had them remade - but then they were 2" too short. I would say: "We have our own proprietary measurement system.

Hey There: There is a way to get this covering "not" custom. You can cover only the bottom part of the window and stop the window treatment where the arch starts. This way you can get away with a "non" custom solution. However, with the size of approx. 60 inches in width you will be looking still at $400 with self installation.
