did these pics all start out with a single story ranch? I desperately need help updating my 1970 ranch not only is it tired it's just like all the other houses on this street. all built same time by same architecture.

    Is there a specific name for the wood on the home and how is it installed?

    The wood is cypress. It's installed vertically vs. horizontally as might be more typically done.
