Who do I hire to install my hood insert venting?

I had a custom hood with insert made to go over a cooktop. I previously had an OTR micro.
Who do I hire to install/run the duct work from the insert through the roof?
There is nothing existing now. No hole in my roof, no existing pipe, etc. I do not have a handy "man" "husband", just me.
I called lowes, another local appliance store, a gas company and no luck.
Also, any thoughts on how much something like this should cost me?
Cabinet co will install the hood and insert only. No electricity, no duct.
Located in SC.

In my kitchen remodel, the contractor brought in an HVAC sub for duct work, and an electrician for wiring.

I do not have a contractor. Only me and the cabinet/custom hood builder who will install the hood/insert.

Hire a heating/AC company. Ducts is what they do.

Person that built your hood will install it. Have an electrician add a plug if there is no power there, and the hire HVAC (heating and air co) to install the vent and duct work

You say that you previously had an OTR microwave hood. Was it vented? If so, you should already have some ductwork in place to which new ductwork can be connected. If the old OTR microwave hood was unvented and merely circulated air through a carbon filter, then you would probably need to have venting installed to have proper moisture and fume control. This has the potential to be a big expensive job, if you need to run ductwork through walls where it did not previously exist.

When the cabinet company designed the new hood, the designer should have had something in mind about how the hood would be vented. It is not reasonable to just build a wooden box, call it a hood and say that somebody else would have to run ductwork and wiring to it. What was their plan? Can they furnish you a copy of the drawing? How would this new hood connect to the duct? Where did they leave a flat surface to mount electrical switches for fans and lights? Where would the lights go? Where would the filters go? Where would the fan be installed? (Most commonly the fan would go in a round duct, just above the entrance to the hood.)

Photos would do wonders for answering questions such as:

Is the installation on an Interior or exterior wall?

How old is the house? (Type construction)

Is this a whole new kitchen or just a new hood?

Will a new circuit be needed?

What is your budget? Is it too late to change your mind?

Has the custom hood already been fabricated? Has it been installed?

Sounds like you are doing this backward. All the ductwork and routing for it should have been planned out first. There are requirements for each fan system that fits under hood. Was the hood designed and built with knowledge of the fan system? So need to know answers before anyone can help you. HVAC is good place to start.

My contractor, who seemed to do everything in reverse order bailed without finishing a few things, the kitchen stove vent thru the roof being one. in March I signed a contract with a another local well known GC in my soutgern AZ retirement area, with the requested half down paid. They still have not scheduled the work. Good luck in getting your small job done. BTW the contracted price was something like $750.

Yes, a lot of HVAC pros are plumbers and electricians.
