Looking for input please! I looked into replacing our carpet to hardwood on our main stairs and the stairs to the basement but it's out of our budget right now. I have found a silvery taupe carpet I like so will be recarpeting. As well, I am getting quotes on iron pickets but thinking we will replacing the current ones with a different style of wood due to cost.
We would like to either have the handrails, pickets and stringers painted or stained. I did get a quote for staining but have a few different wood grains going on on adjoining rooms, so think we should go for painted. If so, opinions on what colour to go with for all components please.
Should we go for a) the classic dark handrail, white spindles and dark stringers; b) dark handrail, white spindles and white stringers; c) everything white or d) everything a wrought iron colour? Keep in mind the silvery carpet, beige tile, BM Pashmina on the walls and mixed woods.
