What color dining room table - 2 tone cabinets, even different floor

Hi there. Our cabinets are being installed in our new home now. I need help choosing a dining room table. Attached are manufacturer's pics of our island (coffee) and wall cabinets (white). Also attached are our "leather" "sawmill hickory" laminate floors. Walls are Sherwin Williams' Anew Grey. Ceiling is Agreeable Grey.

I was leaning toward a white bottom, wood top table similar to color of floor. But wondering if I should be looking for a table that coordinates with the coffee colored island... help ? Thanks in advance!

honestly, either will work. why don't you look around and pick out some choices. when the room is almost done, post the choices you like. As of now, it's too hard to pick one at this time without knowing what the room will look like and what other furniture is going in there. For instance, what kind of stools are you using for the island? is there any other wood items going in the room? with the dark floor, dark table and dark chairs, it may be a bit overwhelming. if you do a wood table, then pick white chairs (or whatever color you have in the room)

Are you sure about grey ceiling and not white? Seems like it might bring the feeling of the ceiling height down. And have you mocked up the wall and ceiling paint together? Proceed w caution

I agree w Beth and it would be helpful to know counter material/color.

Thanks Beth. No other wood in the dining or kitchen no. So maybe I'll look for a dark table and white chairs. Or dark top table with white bottom? Thanks for the input; I'll post pics of some I find.

Thinkdesignlive, yes I'm sure on the ceiling. I don't like white ceilings at all, and the agreeable grey is a pretty light grey. It's actually already on the ceiling in the pic. :)

Beth, were not putting stools under the island as of now. We're thinking of doing something like this behind the couch that backs up to the island, tho. Worried about that possible clash too. Haha.

The countertops are quartz and are Vicostone Misterio, which is white with a light grey vein.

Paint colors are from the same paint swatch. They're next to each other.

Why don't you wait till all the stuff is done. Then take pics, post here, and you will probably get more useful advise.

I think I'd try to stay away from those wood colors, probably by going lighter. Something like this comes to mind:

Otherwise, maybe a stone or metal top.

For a more refined finish, probably a very dark wood, so you keep some contrast with the flooring.

I would to know a bit more about your style , if this was my kitchen , for instance, I would do an oval saarinen table with some chairs with red or teal seats. IMO you have enough wood

Britney, thank you! Yes, your style is right up my alley! I love that console table, too.

acm, thanks for the images. That helps a bit. I'm going for a more farmhouse look. My fave you posted would be the second to last.

Patricia, thanks for replying. That image couldn't be further from my style. lol. I'm between traditional and rustic. Farmhouse-y, country-ish...but not TOO country. More refined. The metal on the console table pic I posted makes me nervous.

Jmdilapi, I thought so! FYI- we’re considering the same second to last coffee table, couches table and end table. It’s coaster coffee table, driftwood. Amazon sells too and I don’t think they have same restocking fee as houzz.

So our house is done now, and I still don't know what color to stain my dining table top. The legs of the table and bench will be white. I want to do white cross back chairs. We've already ordered the console and stools for behind the light grey couch we bought. I've ordered the table from a local custom furniture builder...just need to pick a stain color for the table. Do I go dark like the island, medium like the floors...or something like a whitewash or grey?

Looks great! I would go with a darker table top color that isn’t very warm if I were you. With your walk colors and other furniture selection I’d lean towards Jacobean. Is that similar to your island cabinets?

Here’s how ours turned out. We moved in around thanksgiving. I need to take pics without the tree.

Britney, your house looks great! I love it. And yes, I was leaning toward the Jacobean too! B/c I want a wood color (not Ebony) and that's the darkest and closest to cabinets on island (which is Coffee). Thank you!

Wow you have done a beautiful job so far. Love love love that island. I think I would do the table in the same colour (yes I am Canadian) as your island. If your not opposed to a glass top I would look for that. The glass may lighten it up a little.

Thanks Judy! I think I am leaning toward the dark table top to bring in the island, too. I like the idea of glass, but we have some pretty robust game nights at our table, and it makes me a little nervous. Haha!

I also think the white legs and white chairs I want to get will take care of it being too dark. I'm trying to decide between Jacobean and Espresso stain.

What is the manufacturer of these cabinets?

Hi Laura, they are from KountryWood.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Have you been happy with the cabinets and is the white a 'true white'?

I vote for dark like island

Laura, sadly, we're still not moved in. lol. But yes, they are a very good quality. And yes, the white is very white, yet looks good next to the "Marshmallow" trim which is a little warmer and creamier.

We've decided on espresso stain. Table comes in March... I'll post a pic in case anyone is interested. :) Thank you all.

Just got our table. We did espresso stain but since it’s on pine, it’s not dark like the island. We love it regardless.

Hi! @jmdilapi , your kitchen is beautiful! I know this thread is old but im wondering if you can comment on your Kountrywood cabinets. Searching for some real life reviews. We are about to use them for a huge project and my research here has been…. Not so great! I’m hoping you love them.
Though we didn’t order just yet.
Thanks so much for any info!

Thanks so much! We will make 4 years in the house this month, and the cabinets have held up beautifully. I just wipe them down with a cloth with pledge every now and then to keep them clean. I would definitely recommend them! Good luck!
