Nice I have a few flowering still...mine are not in a greenhouse yet...they're all in my home... I can't wait to be in that class

Dorion, you gave me inspiration to try growing some indoor next winter. I did not know it is possible. Every year, i dug up the rhizomes and store them and plant them out in spring. I have been doing the same thing for close to 10 years. I certainly got my money's worth.

if I don't have to dig them up, I would be planting a lot more. I just live the canna leaves and flowers. And so do the hummingbirds!

Wish I'd let the bulbs I bought in late Fall grow indoors through this Winter too. Instead, it looks like my first basement overwintering is an epic fail. What looked like half-loss early on is looking like close to a complete loss now, and Spring is still not here yet.

Extroverted, you may be surprised. I let my cannas go completely dormant in the garage for the winter with no water. I start putting them outside during the day on April 1. They come back in the garage at night. Here is a post on Cannas in zone 5 and you can scroll down to where I describe my method and my canna trolley is pictured.

Thanks much, popmama. Unfortunately, I did water mine. They got soft inside so I don't think they're any good. But I'm not throwing them out and will definitely see if they'll grow. Will probably pot them up by the window this weekend since the basement has been rather warm again this winter. In hindsight, garage would have been better, but was afraid would be too cold.

I wouldn't trash mine either...I'd definitely go through them with a fine comb and see if any pieces can be salvaged. Usually the ends may be still ok...Id definitely relocate them to a warmer location cause if I could I'd show you some of the ones I had the had mush and I saw them go from mush to mold and eventually new shoots came up...so there are some sucess stories out there...I hope you are one too.

Lesson learned in years past never water a canna in the dead of winter unless it's showing you it needs it.. Thought mine were toast in Jan but just dormant and now they're coming up again.
