1 or 2 sinks?

I am remodelling our bathroom and in the design stage. We already know we will not stay here more than 5 years so we are wanting to make good decisions to sell and make a good profit. My issue is how many sinks should i install in the bathroom, keeping in mind that there is only 1. We are also trying to do this on the cheap. I appreciate all thoughts... thanks.

If there is only one bathroom, only one sink. You won't want what is a public space to look like a master bath, imo.

there is only 1 bathroom for the entire house? how many bedrooms? people who share bathrooms w/their children will want more than one sink. But since you didn't post a pic or a layout, I have no way of answering correctly.

A similar post popped up in my feed as a result of this one and all answers on that post were "two sinks" as well. I wonder if it's a regional thing; I've never seen two sinks in a single-bathroom home before.

Well, that's not strictly true. We put two sinks in the single bathroom of our little mobile home, but we had six kids and the house was basically a tear-down that we endured as long as necessary, not anything to invest in. And it looked weird, and I found we only used one sink anyway! The other literally never had to be cleaned except to wipe dust out, because nobody ever used it lol.

lindsey, back in the day, in the post war homes out here on the west coast, all (well not all,,,the ones with larger bathrooms) of the spare bathrooms had double sinks. you know, the ones w/the pink and gray, or black/yellow, vintage tile?

Especially if there is no sink in the master bedroom, double income couples will insist on two sinks. I think it's a good idea to have it.

personally I've always had just one. in fact, just put in a large double =sink in new bathroom and husband still uses my sink!

this is 1000 sq ft floor of a duplex. the existing layout requires us to use what we have as far as removal of certain walls due to the radiators. we own the whole house but there are 2 families. the room is huge (in my opinion) 8' x 10'. as it sits now the toilet sits in its own room and the tub and sink are in the room next to it.

by the way...thank you for your comments and maybe some further explaination above might help. i will upload some pics of my thoughts soon.

Any reason you wouldn't want to make this into two baths? Not sure if budget and floorplan really work for that.

Or, make it one bathroom and a separate smaller powder room for guests. Better off with 2 bathrooms though. Hard to pull off in 1000 sq ft only. May have to settle on the small powder room.

Please advise size of vanity? Do you have enough space for 2 sinks and still have enough usable counter top? Do you have 2 people who would be using it at the same time?
