If it were me, instead of trying to work with the bed and finding storage to suit which could look haphazard, I would think about storage first and then work out the bed/mattress configuration. The bed below was selling at Ovestock for $361. In regards to bedding, just go with a light color and a simple pattern..or even a solid and layer with pillows that suit your art or rug, etc.

Use builtin bed storage like Maureen shows. Otherwise, if left bare, it will inevitably look like someone shoved things under the bed for storage. You could use a detachable dust ruffle to hide the storage things.

Definitely go with a bed that already has storage options built into it. It will look better.
