If I understand your question right, I would just do the wall that the stove is against and the wall that the refrigerator is against ... not the 90 degree wall (pantry wall?) in the right of the photo.

No, I don't think you should do anything to the pantry wall.

Brenda- I didn't realize that was what she meant, if so, I what we typically do is tile right hand wall from counter to the same height as the other walls (bottom of cabinet height) and out to the end of the counter top. Using a bull nose finished edge on the top and the exposed end.

Merit Homes we plan on doing a full backsplash not the 4" but were trying to decide if we need to do the pantry wall

I would not do pantry wall, I would end it in corner just past oven, on that wall only.

I would tile it as Merit shows. That area by the stove is subject to more cleaning/scrubbing. The tile would hold up much better that paint.
