Two of the 3 sides of my backyard are a straight line of privacy bushes and I love them. We can't see any of our neighbors. It makes it feel like were in a much more country neighborhood.

I suspect that, with no second floor, they'd have to stand right at the fence on a stool to see over into your pool. Put up a few plants to make you less aware of it and move on...

For maximum impact screen near where you are looking from instead of just near where the unwanted view is. In part because the closer the screening is to the view the bigger it has to be.

There are reasons why many cannot consider bamboo but if you can, think about it.

I would do an arbor with a grapevine, or two. I assume this is a spot that gets plenty of sun. You can have a slant of the top of the arbor where the leaves would obscure even more. This could double for a place to sit under poolside in some shade so you don't need umbrellas. Vine upkeep, but fruit too. Nice it's just a one story house.

Bamboos are a natural with palms. Various tightly clumping kinds, that never pop up some distance away from the main clump or patch are on the market in both warm and cold winter areas.

"Clump" bamboo...NOT "running" bamboo. You will have a giant screen in no time.
