Snake plant help?

Hello, I was hoping someone might be able to help me identify what's wrong with my snake plant?

I've had it for a couple of months. However a few weeks ago I noticed that one of the leaves was starting to wither and turn yellow from the bottom up. It was only one leaf whereas the rest were completely fine. I just assumed maybe it needed to be watered (I water it once a month). However now that the leaf is dead I noticed today that another leaf next to the dead one is starting to do the same thing too (turning yellow).

Anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it? I've included some pictures too. Thank you

Can see the yellowing seems to start from the bottom and work its way up

I'd suspect some kind of drainage problem; does the inner pot have holes in the bottom? I'd unpot it & check the roots. Thirst doesn't cause yellowing in Sans, more likely wrinkles or dryness. Yellowing is dying off for some reason.

Yes I've just checked and the inner pot has some holes in the bottom

I've tried checking the roots too but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for? (I'm a bit of a plant novice sadly)

If the plant isn't thirsty as you say then I really don't know what it needs me to do / why this yellowing is happening. Also wondering if I should be trying to cut off the dead leaf?

Well, you have a new plant that is about to emerge, possibly 2.

My guess is that the two pots together hold in too much moisture. As the plants grow, roots fill spaces in the soil either making the soil stay wet too long, or making it impossible for water to get into the root ball. I re-potted my sans with gritty mix to fix that issue.

I'd remove the dead leaf - just give it a gentle tug and see if it comes off. Or you can snip it.

I would snip it off at the base as close to the soil as possible. If it pulls away easily, do that and make sure you don't leave dead plant flesh attached to your plant bases. Currently I'm sunning mine for a couple of hours. They've been in the house all winter. I introduced them gradually of course. I've been having the exact same problem lately as you. I repotted them last year so that shouldn't be an issue. I think they need nutrients too but I'll have to look that up. If you figure out why your leaves are doing that, please pass along and a cure if you know one. Thank you a million.

If you are having a similar problem, purchase some Ortho MAX Garden Disease Control Concentrate, 16 oz. It should last you a very long time. On line or in the big box stores. I have used this to stop rotting leaves and heal plants. I used to use mouth wash but this is way better. I mix a teaspoon to a pint spray bottle of water. Spray infected area once a week to make sure it has a chance to work. Damaged leaves mostly has to be removed or infected area cut off.
