Modern canopy bed vs. platform bed

Hi,

I can't decide if I should buy a platform bed or a platform with canopy bed. I like the platform bed but I recently saw the same bed with a canopy. I like the drama of the canopy but I am not sure how inconvenient or why is it unpopular. My ceilings are 10' and the canopy is 8'. There is a ceiling fan right at the end of the frame buy they don't overlap. Can you please recommend me on what to buy? The following bed is similar to the bed I want to purchase. The color of the wood is dark expresso. They sell it with or without the canopy. What should I buy? Thank in advance for your time.

I do like the simple canopy, but now that I'm getting older :) I think about things like, "will this fit in another bedroom if we move". I understand your intention may be to say in the home forever, but it's a thought that ran across my mind.

I love the look of canopy beds. That said, I do not view dusting the tops or caring for additional drapes if hung to be worth the effort.

I love and will always have a canopy bed in my Master. I only have 8' ceilings and my bed posts are only 6" from the ceiling. The bed dominates the room and I love that. To me, the bedroom is all about the bed and sleeping! I'm getting a platform bed for the spare room.
