You could do the standard table and mirror or art work with a lamp.

Or, I like a seat in the foyer. Handy if someone is waiting to get picked up. Or waiting for someone they are picking up...

I think you need a console and a nice piece of wall art or mirror above it. I also would consider a foyer table in middle of space. A round rug under there would be nice.

Here are a couple more photos. What are your thoughts on rugs for the space? Something indoor/outdoor for in front of the door? Anything in the hall?

Get a nice low pile entry rug wider than your door and a nice open table with mirror above for the area by stairs. Watch that you do not block the heat vents. Do not think a runner is necessary but assess after you get a larger entry rug. Try to avoid fringe on the entry rug as it will be vacuumed frequently and fringe gets caught in the vacuum.

Should it span the width of the tile or stop before the stairs?

I think it would be nice to use a round rug beside that stairs, and put a nice arm chair, a table and a gorgeous flowers there, bcs as soon as you open the door, you want to see that as the vocal point, and use a nice floor to floor rug on the stairs start at that first step of the stairs, and for me to put that huge mirror on that kitchen entrance wall would be a little be overwhelming bcs from what I see you got a quite tall ceiling so rather than a mirror, I guess a painting would be nice

A rug this size could work for the space. I would not recommend a round rug. It won't stretch to the corners where you need the rug.
