I would keep the rug just like you have it.

Before anything begins….I see a radiator (good, as it is attesting to the fact the house is not new)…I see great hardwood floors…tell more about the house. Is it Craftsman?

Also, could you stand with back toward (altered) fireplace and take another photo?

Hi. The house is a small 1920 cottage. Front door opens right into living room. Teddy the dog loves to look out window so need a chair near the window for him.

It appears from the second photo that you should have room to straighten out the sofa with the rug and still have "entry" space, especially if you remove the dried flowers from behind the sofa.

Your couch is not huge….and everything I am seeing…I would face it straight on to fireplace. The rug might be the wrong size…tv, can it go over the fireplace?

The room can be “fixed”….just some tweaks and rearragments

Thanks. Had it straight and it was fine but tight. Would love to eliminate tv or downsize it. I may be the only person in the world that gets a smaller tv.

Couch/rug are still not centered. Dried hydrangeas…no. You have a great space, but need to eliminate coat rack..etc.
