Paint brands

After saving and reviewing several Houzz photos and looking for design ideas I see an overwhelming list of paint colors as Benjamin Moore. Is it safe to say that most designers/decorator's/painters and DIY'ers find this to be the most poplular brand of paint? would love everyone's feedback who has used several paint brands.
thank you!

What are you looking for in a paint ? Cost, durability , coverage , color retention . All paint companies make a baseline cheap paint and a higher quality paint . I use Benjamin Moore for most projects but also use sherwin Williams I also use local brands in Seattle . There are higher end paints like Farrow ball , fine paints of Europe and c2 paint . There's a place for all categories it comes done to your needs

Definitely looking for coverage and durability. I've used Benjamin Moore but only 1 or 2 times, also have used Valspar, Behr and SW. I'm probably not looking to go to the cost of a Farrow Ball plus I don't even know if I have a place near me to purchase that. I just like to hear from people that use various brands more than I do and ultimately I just want a smooth application at a reasonable cost.

I like the application and coverage of super paint of sherwin . Benjamin's aura has great coverage and durability is on the higher side of pricing . Where abouts are you in the country sometimes some local brands are great as well

I only use Behr. It's a good quality paint and I've never been disappointed with either the coverage or the color. And, it's affordable!

I'm in Maryland. Valspar is one of Lowe's brands and Behr is at Home Depot which I have access to both. We still have a SW nearby. Used to have a BM store locally but now I have to search for next closest location as ours closed down. So what is a good tip for DIY painters for roller marks not to show or what I call bumps on the wall that most likely are more caused by the roller pad? any suggestions? thanks for all of this feedback, that is why I love this site.

Home Depot sells a paint additive that is supposed to reduce the appearance of painting marks. I've never used it but maybe I should! Normally I just paint north/south than east/west for full coverage: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Flood-Floetrol-1-Qt-Clear-Latex-Paint-Additive-FLD6-04/100198078#.Uac5LVvn-P8

thank you, I will check that out at HD and maybe give it a try on this next project! appreciate the tip. Yes, I do the N/S and E/W and then also the W stroke to get good coverage and finish with a solid North to south. It sometimes looks great at first and then I catch a glimpse of my wall from the side in the right light and I can see variations.

Variations could be caused by it not being mixed thoroughly, or if could just be caused by light. I don't usually have a problem with variations, holidays are my biggest issue!

If you do the sanding, don't forget to wipe all the sanding dust away. You could use a clean, dry microfiber mop for this.

I hear you! I just finished painting every wall in this entire house. It will be at least five years before I pick up a roller again! Looking forward to your after pics!

Wow, good for you! Bet if feels good to have that done. do you have any before/after pics posted on this site? I have about 4 rooms in our primary residence that I currently want to transform, lot of ideas on paper, now it's time to start working on them!

It's more fun and less tiring to plan than to do. The only pic I have is of my bathroom that I just finished remodeling all by myself!! Woo Hoo! Oh, and the walls are white, not yellow like in the pic, and the vanity skirt/window curtains are a pale aqua.
