Is there a max overhang for bar height seating?

We will have bar height seating on the kitchen peninsula and wanted to know if there was a max overhang for the counter top that should be considered. We have 16 3/4 inches of wall space between the half wall and window molding. We were thinking of extending the granite the full 16 3/4 inches. Is there any reason not to do this and cut it short to the 12 inch recommended overhang for bar height seating?

I think 12" is too short for knees. As far as I know, the only limiting factors as to how large an overhang can be is cleaning (that would have to be really big) and support. Solid surface counters (including stone) need some serious support for an overhang but as long as that is taken care of, I think you should go at least the full 16.
