How high above window should I hang new curtains/drapes?
Comments (10)@Janet P. I definitely think you should hang the drapes as close to the ceiling to create a heightened look. You can also do a color blocked drape with a dark color on the bottom pulling the eye down and creating a longer look from top to bottom. Loomdecor.com is a design it yourself home decor site. Comments (4)I put mine 1/2 way between the window frame and the ceiling. Which was about 6 inches above. Also make them wider than the window frame so the curtains when open do not block window and make it look wider. Mount the hardware 4 to 6 inches past the frame on both sides. You can buy 96" curtains and then hem them to the correct length, just at the floor....See MoreHow high/low do I place the curtain rods?
Comments (1)I would think about getting 90" or 95" long drapes, then hanging them high enough to just clear the floor. If you get drapes elsewhere in the house, hang them at the same height....See MoreHow high and wide should I hang my curtain rods - 9 ft ceilings?
Comments (7)you want them to go to the floor. you want them to be wide enough for the panels to not be on the glass, covering the casing is fine. and you want both to be the same height, i'd say 5" above the casing on the one you showed here if the other is the same height as this window. some people will say half way, some to the ceiling, but i dont think all of that empty space below the rod looks better than empty space above....See MoreJWinteriors
