After 5 years of maneuvering low places, high places, and the deserts of my mind (?) I have finally found the respite I needed to finish a project I got started on back in 2012. It is a treatise on my most favorite of the little plants called Selaginella, specifically the subgenus Tetragonostachys. While most folk are familiar with the members of the subgenus Stachygynandrum, which is famously or infamouly characterized by Selaginella kraussiana, the various species of the Tetragonostachys do not prefer the limelight of popularity and are quite happy in their lofty habitats on the sides of cliffs and other rugged and inhospitable terrain! Nonetheless they are now publicly exposed for what they are and despite hiding under the facade of "tininess" I reveal those distinct and unusual properties, with proper language, of course (!!), that make these gems of the plant world remarkable.
