Fall or Spring Orders?

Anyone placing orders for fall and/or spring?

For fall I just ordered Nastarana, Clementina Carbonieri, and my first ever moss rose, Alfred de Dalmas (Mousseline).

In spring I plan on getting a grafted Rose de Rescht--since I haven't yet got up the nerve to learn to graft my own.

What is everyone else getting?

Thanks, Ingrid. I saw your pictures when I was trying to figure out which Moss I wanted to try. They helped me decide in Alfred's favor.

Well, I'm glad that helped you. I know it's not meant for my climate, but now I rather wish I still had it. It has that old rose charm that always gets to me.

Ha! I don't think it's ideal for my climate either, but I really wanted to see a Moss rose in real life. Though Alfred is only lightly mossed, it seemed the best bet.

I broke down and ordered Molineux from Heirloom Roses. I had $36 credit there, and have been eyeing Molineux for a while. I kept waiting for them to offer a “free shipping day” while Molineux was in stock, but it wasn’t happening. When I added Molineux to my cart and went to check out, I was going to be charged $15 shipping. I backtracked and added some liquid bone meal for $14.95, and then my shipping was free. I hope Molineux will be happy here. I’ve been thinking that I need some yellow, and Molineux is SUPPOSED to stay smallish. We’ll see about that. Lisa

I'm glad I'm not the only one ordering so late in the year. Molineux is beautiful, and you got him for free. What could be better?

I am ordering a lot of roses but Geoff, from cool roses, talk to me. It is up to me but he will be coming in March to Orlando at Leu Gardens. He will bring all David Austin and whatever I ordered. No shipping.

That gives me more time to plan my backyard and more roses to order. Being patience is so hard feel like I can't get my X'mas gifts on 25...lol

The more I read from forums about roses, my list is getting longer and longer.

I went to leu gardens believe it or not I was so excited to visit rose garden. I smell blue girl ( omg it smells awesome), Madam Lambard, Beverly, and Nur Mahal. I am getting all of them. I wish they had more roses but they got git hard from hurricanes.

Are old garden roses hard to grow ? I am so interested in them and of course DA

Getting them all in fortunia stock and DA roses I can't get will come from TX of course. Below are few pics I took at Leu' s. Anyone knows what rose is paint on tiles. Thank you.

    Hi Jin,

What a great thing for Geoff to do, bringing your roses to you. I looked at their website. They have some nice roses. I had never heard of them, but I have bookmarked their site for future ordering.

I don't know what the rose is in your photo, but to me it looks like a hybrid tea or floribunda. I like the colors. I looked at photos of Leu Gardnes and it seems a beautiful place to visit.

You should post photos of your new rose when you get them, and let us know how they turn out for you.

Slumgullion, thank you for another vote for Alfred de Dalmas. Nearly everywhere I looked on the internet there seemed to be only good things said about that rose.

I am also reading on Alfred de Dalmas. It is a beautiful rose. How is the fragrance ?

    Thanks

Hi Jin - To my nose, Alfred is not strongly fragrant, though of course everyone's sniffer is different.

Fragrance is normally something I place a high value on, and I try to avoid ordering roses that aren't highly fragrant (except I've made an exception for Teas and Chinas which are being planted as a hedge in an area where I won't be around to smell them anyway).

But I like Alfred's blooms so much that I've planted him in a prime spot near my front walkway so I can admire him every time he blooms. The flowers have a very delicate, translucent quality.
