Maybe if you posted pics of rooms you liked? I tend to think of things like animal prints or hides, salvage items with patina, patterns like plaid.

Problem is, every picture I find either has windows on either side of the fireplace or they have built ins which I don't want and didn't want to confuse people haha I'm really open to anything, as long as it falls more under the lodge rustic type style, no farmhouse for sure. Love hides, salvages items, have plaid bed sets in master and guest room, love plaid.

I would really reconsider the TV over the fireplace -- it will detract from the one genuine rustic element in the room, and it will put the TV at an uncomfortable viewing angle. You have plenty of room to put the TV on a low (rustic) console to the right of the fireplace, with your wood bin on the other side, and that will make it easy to group your furniture around that wall and make a conversational unit there.

Your high ceiling is pretty modern, so I don't think I'd try to go all cowboy with your furnishings -- the view will bring the woods in, right? I would intermix a few rustic, or elegant-rustic elements with some simpler transitional/refined elements. It won't be hard to find a balance that feels right to you. For me, I'd want material rather than leather for the couches, to help with that balance, but you know your own vision for the space.

I didn't realize high ceilings were considered modern, every plan i looked at, pictures, etc. of lodge style houses all have the high ceilings and trusses or beams so that's what I did haha We don't have kids yet but we have a cat that sheds and dogs that shed so we got leather so that it would hold up longer and I wouldn't have to lint roll all the time or worry about spills and stains and such. They are arriving Wed as a special order so I'm committed to them now! The last 2 pictures you posted I'm so in love with!! Right up my ally. I LOVE woods and Colorado and anything mountainous and lodgey style, but live in boring Texas and not a tree on our property. Since my husband won't move us to Colorado I'm making this home feel like I'm in Colorado. I don't really want anything Texas or farmhouse at all. We're on the top of a hill so there's really no woods out to bring in, just pasture haha so is it ok to put more woodsy stuff inside since it's not outside and won't be overkill? And the tv, I guess I'm really really struggling with it not being on the fireplace because it's centered there and if it's off to the side on a table then that wall feels unbalanced to me, like there's a big piece of furniture and big tv on one side and just a pictures and basket on the other, and I guess since it feels that way to me, I wondered if other people would feel that way too, if that makes sense. If I didn't put the tv on the fireplace, what would I put up there in the middle because there's an outlet in the middle for the tv

I think you are asking very specifically what to flank the fpl with, since you don't have windows and don't want builtins. I don't think the wall expanse there is so huge that you need to do anything at all. Artwork of course would be nice, but don't settle just to fill a space.

I might prefer to see something with dimension, maybe lantern sconces? mirrors?

You could also use a paint color or wallpaper, but then you would make the wall seem visually shorter by highlighting where it breaks from the ceiling.

Wow what a beautiful home! I love the rustic, log home style. To me rustic also includes feeling cozy & warm. I like a few throw blankets in the room maybe draped over part of the couch with rustic patterns as well as some pillows on the sofa's. This can bring in some rustic colors, & softness to your space. Love the log ends look hanging on the wall someone posted here. I saw something similar at a cottage we stayed at & it was very pretty. Would love to see more pictures of your home. Definitely not a decorator myself but I try to get this look in my little home myself.

mtnrdredux_gw I know in the picture it looks the same but the wall and ceiling colors are actually very very different colors and in person you can see where they split. I agree with scones or lanterns, I'd actually though about that and brought one home but looked like it go lost on such a wide and tall wall. It's 6ft wide by 10ft tall on the left and 8ft wide by 10ft tall on the left side. Ideas or links on big big lanterns? (I have an obsession with lanterns so you hit the nail on the head with that!)

We were on a tight budget and did what we could lodge style wise in the build but focused more on the most livable square footage we could with the budget, and figured what we couldn't afford to do in the build we could make up for in decor!! You guys are really so sweet on here! My last experience posting asking for advice on my home was awful, people were so mean, so I really appreciate everyones suggestions and advice!! I see where y'all are coming from with the tv, but what do I put in the middle of the fireplace to cover up the electrical outlet? And that's the only outlet on that wall so moving it to put the tv next to the fireplace instead, will that be expensive?

The couches you provided as examples I feel don't give that warm, cozy, curl up with your family feel and also are an overused style. A low weathered leather look and even a sectional would be comfortable and look great and don't forget some fake fur pillows and a mohair throw. In regards to the above rug you like, I don't think it will lend itself...the color is nice but the design doesn't compliment a lodge/rustic/log feel to me. Your dining chairs would look great with fake fur thrown over a few and you could even distress either the table or the chairs a light grey, so it feels interesting. When considering what to add on either side of the fireplace, a Christmas tree is only up for a few weeks and it would look lovely in front of the window and then you could get a much taller tree..it would be captivating. If it were me, I wouldn't hide the lovely stone on the fireplace with a tv and instead place on the larger wall on the right in a great antique piece for your tv and it can also then be hidden away, vs being so prominent and taking over your fireplace. Have a vision for the room style (don't go overboard rustic) and I would start with the couch and rug and they will help direct your other choices. Take your time and look for second hand items and distress or for sales..you mentioned you were on a budget..so just go slow but chose the pieces you love. Good luck and enjoy.

I wouldn't let placement of a Christmas tree for a few weeks a year dictate how I furnish and arrange my home. Get that out of your head and put the TV on the right side of the FP. Your interior finishes don't look lodge-like, so maybe you have time to change direction!

I've already bought the living room set so that's going to just have to work. I can assure you it's more cozy and the color is softer in person and it's a lot less formal than the stock photo. I'll attach some pictures below that O have of that living room set I took at the store. (Ignore my crazy husband testing jtnout haha) Fabric just wasn't an option since we will be having kids one day (we're only 27 and 28) so have a long time for these couches to live and needed durability because children destroy things I've heard hahaha also we have 3 dogs and a cat and hair would be horrid to keep up with on fabric furniture. I know Christmas tree is just temporary, I was using that comment as a dry joke/to say that's why I didn't want built in's lol that that's literally as far as I've made it in the vision of this room is where the tree will go hahaha I lack the decorating gene very very much! I am excited to get to put my tree up though, that and a fire in the fireplace I've been excited for since we started construction a year ago and it's finally almost here yippee!! Can you share any pictures of rugs you think would do better than the one above? I've seen some pictures on Pinterest of mountain lodge style houses that have tribal/Native American style rugs and throw pillows but I wonder if that's too southwestern for the lodge look even though I'm seeing them in lodge style houses. It's all very confusing how this all goes haha I'm heading more the direction of woodsy, natural elements with all the wood and stone and fur, etc. dining set, same thing with the chairs as the couch. Little greasy hands all over the fabric and destroying it doesn't make it durable over time so I'm doing just the plain wooden chairs posted above.

This room alone may not look lodgey to you but as a whole, the flow of the house has more lodge design style features and I'm jut in love with that style. Again the Christmas tree was more of a joke but it seems no one got it and I can't edit that out for some reason haha any suggestion on the other side of the fireplace when the tree isn't there?

I agree with decoenthusiaste that I wouldn't hold part of my living room hostage for the several weeks (even months) of the year that you have a Christmas tree.

I would definitely adapt the lodge look to take into account the fact that you're in rural Texas and take advantage of the amazing pasture land outside your big beautiful windows.

How can i edit my original post to delete out the comment about the Christmas tree? People are misunderstanding me :( I'M NOT PLANNING MY ROOM AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE, FRIENDS lol I was simply saying that's why I didn't want built in's was because when I built this house that was my designated spot for it and I can't do that with a built in there. Y'all are so funny. I know people are crazy obsessed with Christmas so I get the confusion, people on my facebook already have their tree up! hahaha :) One of the biggest issues I am having is with artwork. I was going to put some on either side of the fireplace but when I look for lodge style artwork it looks (as my best friend lovingly puts it) like it belongs in the house of some 80 year old redneck woman living in a travel trailer and frying a deer steak LOL and yes, I hate to say I can see where she's coming from. I'm not sure how to mix none redneck art into a lodge theme/style. Deer, moose, bear, etc. all go with the lodge but all wall decor I find that have those have that 1980's redneck outdated look no matter what frame it's in.

There is a Texas Gardening forum on GW where several excellent gardeners hang out.

Look for a print of a Texas bluebonnet painting or a real map of Texas or of your county for above the fp. Paint the outlet cover until you find something you like.

I went back to your first pictures and it looks like something is plugged into an outlet to the right of the fireplace. Is that correct? then you won't have a problem with moving the tv and even adding another higher outlet if necessary.
