I feel like your room is missing texture. I would nix the bench and go for a fabric bench. Nightstands are dark, floor is dark, headboard is dark. A nice rug and different pillows would be nice. To me, a well put together room has a mix of varying textures -- leather, velvet, satin, linen, tweed, etc. Lastly, I think the curtains are too plain -- but they may work if you can select a nice rug and pillows that will work with them. They should just kiss the floor though (they are a little on the short side). If you are very neutral (color adverse), then texture should be your best friend. Otherwise, you may need color.

Texture. If not texture, then color or prints.

Thank you, that makes total sense texture!! I def prefer neutral colors and slightly color averse, I've gotten ride of the bench and yes it's much better now. What rug would you suggest and size? A shag rug? Something in the blue grey family or cream? The headboard is a blue velvet( I'm not sure you can tell in the picture) what pillows would you suggest with velvet?! would you do a leather bench? Or just a bench with a slight pattern? Sorry for all the questions!! I'm feeling very lost!

Yes, it feels like you need a few more layers. Get a bench perhaps like in our third design we posted? Add a rug and a blanket on the end, and perhaps some artwork. Then you will have more texture and layers.

I actually think you are off to a great start. I'm not a professional....so I am that visual person that buys 3 benches, takes them home and then returns the ones I don't like (laugh). My personal preference would be to go with a lighter rug for your room. Your selections, thus far, make me believe that you aren't much of a "shaggy rug" type (but I could be wrong) :-). Your sleeping pillows seem to be on the small side...may want to replace them with larger queen pillows to take up more of the width of the bed. As far as a bench, the options are limitless. I think it would be a great opportunity to introduce more texture via a subtle print -- but it's not absolutely necessary either.

Examples...some are bold, some are subtle.

Thank you all!! This gives me some wonderful idea!
