I will take another pic.. The opening to my kitchen is to the left of the tv so I'm not sure if that changes your mind on where to move my couch? It's a tough space long an narrow!

I would like to see a picture, but it does not change my mind. The only other location I saw for tv was where your pictures are, but that area seems too tight and you need to walk through there to get to the stairs.

Can you flip your section around, facing it toward the "love" wall and placing it toward the end of the window. See how you like it and take a photo.

A couch or love seat would be better (shorter), but we can try the sectional. Can the sectional be taken apart?

Thanks for the picture. This will work. If it doesn't work with the sectional, we can take the sectional apart or use the new couch that you purchase.

Hey what do you mean about say goodbye to the urn?

It's pretty long ill move the couch in a few! What do you think for behind the couch though? It's almost create a hallway?!

I love the black furniture however I would move the couch away from the wall and center in front of window. I can't tell from photo how big the room is but pulling the couch into the middle more might not make the room so stark and turn your rug at an angle in front of couch. Good start though.

What if I left the sectional where it was (below the love and family signs) and put a black leather chair in that left corner below the family rules sign? Also if I put a black console table below the two picture display shelves?

Wow! Big improvement! Hey...try this.....can you move the sectional so that it is 100% floated.

What I mean is that one section will face the "love" wall and one section will fact the window. Then we can tweak it some more. The corner of the sectional will be sort of close to where the tv is currently.

The baby looks like he/she is having a great time!!! Like your new arrangement!

Lose urn: I mean that it look odd in that corner and the dried arrangment in it is dated. I think, though, that you can use that urn somewhere else......so don't lose it totally!

We will see how much room we have left in that hall area after final tweaking. With 3 openings there, I am not sure how much seating you would want there. You want it open there. We might be able to place a console table or slimline bench where photos are now. Let's see once we get the other part set.

Yes, that is what I meant. Ideally you would have love seat and maybe 2 chairs, because of how narrow the room is. You can still walk around the sectional, right? It will make a nice cozy section to watch tv. Try it and see if you like it.

Some people are so used to furniture shoved up against the walls, they are not comfortable with floated furniture.

Right, but now move it toward the window, so that you can walk behind it to get to the kitchen.

I actually like it that way. It could be moved in closer. However, if you do not like it, then I would move it back to how you just had it, with one leg along the window.

I recommend that people don't buy sectionals. They are difficult to arrange. If you buy a new couch, then you can float it, facing the tv and then another along the window wall. Actually, 2 love seats would be better.

Take a look at a lot of the pics on houzz, lot's of furniture floated. It gives definition to your areas. But, it you don't like it, you don't like it.

Oh, that looks great!!! Do you like it now? I would move it a little closer to your "love" wall. Then, decide if you want to be able to walk around that area by the window or do you want a table there. I don't think you can do both.

See, now when you watch tv, you won't have traffic walking in front of you. Don't you now want to go and sit on that couch? It is so much more inviting. Also, you can walk up to the window.

No. The tv is way too large for the corner and that wouldn't look good anyway. Take the $ you were going to spend on couches and buy a nice entertainment center for "love" wall.

Take the rug and put it in the sectional area. I think it might be too long on one side? You can either tuck in under the couch more on the long end or...... and angle it 45 degrees. Do you know what I mean.

If you angle it, buy a round coffee table. Otherwise, you can buy a round or square one.

If you want a side table, you can remove the middle section of the sectional and hide the ends with a side table placed in that space.

For your entryway, where you photos are, you can place something you need, like a large cubby for the kids or something for guests?

Other stuff:

-I would hang a star on both sides of your window and lower them'
-lower family plaque.
-Put something large on wall of photos, like the cubby or large piece of artwork and console under it.
-family and love things can go to the right of your entertainment center.

The shelves over the couch need to be moved and a nice large single art canvas placed there...giving the room a focal point and interest. The art can tie everything together nicely.

The problem is the sectional is not at all right for this room. It looks off balance. Ideally a couch and a couple of arm chairs would work. The Tv should be centered on the wall with the floating shelves...a couch centered under the window, area rug and a coffee table in the middle to define the space. If you are unwilling to part with the sectional, a potential fix would be floor to ceiling drapes extended past the window on both sides, giving the illusion that the windo is bigger than it is. That may help add balance to the room. Rotate the sectional so that it is 180 degrees with oneside near the door and the other under the window...TV on wall, perhaps encased in a nice entertainment wall unit.

Thank you! It a pretty small space between the window and those shelves though I'm not sure it would be enough room? The space is long and narrow and so hard to decorate ;( where would you place the arm chairs if I got a sofa and placed it centered under the window? Thanks for your help :)

The other problem is.. The window isn't centered with the wall in front of it, and there's a bump out corner where the tv is hung from now.. I have more pictures above if you want to check those out. It's 11 by 24 on the shortest spot. To the left f where the tv is now the width is 15 inches wide rather than 12

Yes, love seat and a couple of chairs are best for this room, as stated above. A lighter color would help also. But, with sectional, I believe this is best arrangement. Even with sectional, sectional could be separated, placing a table in the corner. This would visually break it up.

Would suggest you replace the sectional with a sofa and two swivel chairs for more flexibility in your narrow space. I too would prefer the TV on the end wall. It looks to be a traffic hazard by the kitchen entry. My critique is of the window treatment and hanging items. The swag valance is dated and from another era. Replace it with stationary panels at each side, hung floor to ceiling on a decorative rod. You have too many shelves and all hanging items are too high. Is there a wall in the adjoining dining area where the shelves could be mounted together? The "wordy" decor is another item I don't care for, mainly because it is pushed by the big box stores that cater to novices and reminds me of sugary epitaphs on tombstones.They fall into the same category for me as oversize battery-run clocks. Once people could tell time on their cell phone, the pushers had to devise faux timepieces, pawning them off as decor. Art that is not with furniture should be centered about 60" above the floor. If hanging above furniture, leave 5-8" between the furniture and the art. Your space can look nice, but you need to keep tweaking.

Entryway to dining/ kitchen is 4.5 feet and the big window is 8 feet
