    stools?
we had floral sofas for a long time and now one of them lives on the porch. I really liked them and they fit our room at the time.
bob, i really like the fourth rug that ang posted, but have no idea if it will work in your room! love the design and colors! very pretty!
stools/tables is what i would think they are. I would imagine you could use them for either function.
    i'm hearing thunder again!!!
Do they remind you of old bamboo stools, that were maybe painted yellow? That's what they remind me of. I can't find them anywhere so I'm thinking that's it.
Or they look like bent wood painted yellow.
yep...you guys are right..bentwood or bamboo....look for tiki furniture or tropical furniture maybe
  • 13 years ago
THAT'S IT!!! Bentwood, not bamboo! Thanks, Handy!
You 're welcome, They reminded me of those bentwood bistro chairs that used to be so popular...

U ladies certainly were busy today! LOL
-@Bobbi...The best sofa I ever had and could not wear out was a Lazy Boy...Wore like IRON!! Last sofa I got on sale for $900...fabric worn out...sunken cushions..7 years old..but we did really beat on it.
-Worked all day...got a compliment as they recognized all I have been saying for last few months ...IE: we r scheduling our patients too closely and are not allowing for the severity of their conditions and/or allowing for turn over time to set up before and clean up after/make follow up appts or nurses's documentation time, which is resulting in delays, increased waiting times and a bone-crushing schedule for the RN's. (and a lot of backaches).
-I speak the truth even if I don't always say it the right way!!

Also a few other points I made to them..evidently people have been complaining about all of the things I pointed out.

Feels good to be heard and validated!!

Prayers to Sir Ironwood the Great!! He is truly an amazing and talented man.

@Angela...You will be a great addition to the team..You have heart!!

@Roo...I am still walking the line in re: balancing out the emotion involved with caring for people...My hands are all over them, and it is very hard to not get attached, involved...I was on my knees a month ago next to a hospice patient praying to God, tearfully to ease her suffering, then followed thru to attempt to get her more relief in any way possible within my nursing powers. Knowing some of my actions did help get her some relief felt good, but the feelings of watching someone die painfully and young is very hard.

I want an Auntie again too!! My Auntie Naomi died at age 48 ...she bought me my first pair of red clogs to wear, and a painted gold jewelry box I still have...Miss and love her.

You go Jayme! You have a good head on your shoulders, you know what's what. Tell them, but make them think it's their idea!!! And sometimes reverse psychology works too.

I would like a lazy boy but it's not in the cards, not right now. R has too many miles on his car and will need a new one soon so car payments are on the horizon. Oh well, at least we're not sitting on the floor, right?
Jayme- that is so inspirational, I knew I liked you and this just cemented it some more.
    @Angela ..thanks..You r inspirational too!!
@bobbi...I got a lazy boy sofa and loveseat for $899 I think it was...on clearance..it just wouldn't wear out..I believe I got it on a no interest deal ...from Slumberland (who has a lot of crappy furniture, IMO)...We need new furniture but need to repaint, install some new lighting and do a kitchen update too....
I am totally a Lazy Boy fan too.
@kimdee....I am going to look for lazy boy furniture when all our chaos is done...Best I ever bought...have gone thru 3 or 4 cheaper sofas..
Glad u got your house done!! Can't wait to see the pics!!!
@jayme -- my current sofa and chair/half are from LazyBoy. They are five years old give or take, and still look like new. I expect they'll be around for a long time. When I'm ready to do the basement, my new sofa/chairs will be LazyBoy also, and these two pieces will go downstairs.

I'm excited to see the pics too! Probably next week sometime.

Speaking of furniture, did I mention my patio furniture is being delivered tomorrow? I was surprised to get the call since the last time they said it would be June 12.

I'm fretting about the creme colored fabric though, and how I'm going to keep it clean. Might've been a mistake.

hi all, been gone all day and skimming todays posts to catch up.

bobbi, i just painted one room SW sea salt cut 50%. love it. it's very soft and works with most colors. does not work with any color with a yellow base so some of those rugs yuo posted like the fall leaves would not work. i picked up a ballard designs 'tristan' rug at their outlet sale last week. very pale gray and aqua-ish and a darker gray. looks great. white and off white and pink also work.

i've had very good luck buying furniture from individuals, estate sales etc. look at the huge high end places where the owners bought top quality but the items have very little wear. don't be shy about bargaining on the price.
i just bought a cool old french cane sofa. white chippy paint.have to pick out fabric for cushions, probably a linen with a slight gray cast. not sure where i'll use it. probably in the sea salt room.

contractors moving fast. i have to choose paint colors this weekend for MBR and bath and trim. restoration hardware catalogs arrived 2 days ago. kinda wanting that general look but lighter and more feminine.
better go play with paint colors.

^ Not if I can help it! LOL It's the one sport I just can't get into.

@ Angela... I did at one time, but we lost our team... :-(*
Bobbi... Look on Craigslist... I found my leather furniture by mistake... I wanted something for my Uncle and Aunt when they were here... Found the two leather chairs, took them into their space, and they just overwhelmed the space... The lady had told me they were going to sell the couch and ottoman later... This furniture was in perfect condition... very solid... So, we decided to move the chairs into our basement space and get them other chairs.. A few months later we bought the rest of the set... I looked them up, we paid $1600.00 for something that was probably at least $5000.00 new... One of my best finds... :-)

    What was your team pattyanb
Well, I hope you are all sound asleep now so I can say mean things!!!

ANGELA!!!! Firstly, stop feeding fuel to Bobbi - she doesn't need any help. Secondly, may I remind you, you are a trainee here, our original minimum age was 50. Thirdly, as I am the same age as your mum please don't start slotting us away for our final journey, I'm having enough trouble trying not to think about it myself.

Now going to have a nice l-o-n-g sulk!!!! Hooroo.

Yes maam, whatever you say maam...I will go back to my trainee role, but first can you tell me the rules that I am required to follow. I do not want to slot my mom away, want to be prepare to help her every step of the way. She lives with my sister now just around the corner.
My mom walks to the gym every day and probably is in better shape than me, so I know she is not going anywhere, anytime soon.
Angela, I think for most of us, the older we get, the harder we fight. I might need you to educate my joeys - they do keep slotting me.
Got my first estimate for my windows today and basically $6000 after rebate and discounts.
    What does slotting mean
Does that sound good?? Not my area at all.
Basically what I should or shouldn't be doing "at my age".
Have no clue since it is the first one. That also includes the sliding glass doors.. I am just trying to get a good warm and fuzzy on the actual window that he is using.
I find it hard to believe that you listen to them..
I had a guy last week and he did not send any estimate, this guy had the estimate the same day so that says something.
Does eye rolling count as "listening"??? Unfortunately, my medically qualified one is the worst, too much knowledge is not always good. My doctor, who knows her well, and I have a lot of laughs.

It does take a while to get the hang of builders. Is the one that didn't sent the estimate too busy - which could mean he is good and popular, or is he just lazy and/or inefficient. Conversely, is the one who sent the estimate, efficient and thorough or desperate for work which could also mean he isn't very good. It is a minefield. Keep getting estimates and hopefully a pattern will emerge. I'm sorry I can't be of help.
That's okay Roo and I was thinking the same thing. But I just sent him an email to get some answers to some questions that came up. and quit with the eye rolling.
So the other guy did send me an estimate and it is half the other estimate. Found it clearing my spam folder. I just gotta now check the types of window they use and see where it stands in comparison to the other.

anyone who ever read Winnie the Pooh knows those are heffalumps!!!!
nurses ought to be given Lazy Boys just for all their hard work.
Angela - half price??? That is a huge difference. Certainly worth a GOOD check.
    I LOVE HEFFALUMPS!!!
I love Heffalumps too! And Winnie the Pooh.
somehow I just KNEW that :)
Seems they use completely different windows. PGT vs ECO. ECO from what I read is local made so just gotta see what difference that is. Says it is Miami Dade approve but not much more.
