Postage stamp top finished - maybe. :)

I've been working on this postage stamp quilt for years as a leader & ender project. The squares are 1" finished. My original plan was to add 4" or 6" borders, but I think I want it to be a wall hanging and it's already 44 X 58 with just the sashing. I'll put it away for now while I ponder whether or not it's done.

I just did the math - 44 X 58 works out to 2,552 squares. And somehow I made an entire extra sashing strip.

WOW, I thought I was the only one that crazy! I made one similar but the squares were 1 1/2 inch square so you beat me. Do you think we might just be the last of a dying breed??

Rita, are we the crazy quilt ladies? I know I’m a crazy cat lady. :)

If yours is also blocks of color it must be the one that inspired me.

Very, very pretty! I can't imagine doing that. I thought about doing one with strips in like colors, but strips would be a lot faster and easier. (My machine tends to eat the fabric if I begin on the edge, so I have leaders that I start sewing in .5". I'm sure there is a reason for this and will try to find out when I take my machine in for a cleaning.) Great job sticking with it, too.

This is exceptional, Donna! I LOVE it!!! I like that you used squares for the sashings. Absolutely wonderful!!

I've made a few projects using 1 1/2" squares, but currently use 2" since I have more of that size.

Wow. I love that you did rainbow themed squares instead of mixing them all up. . I have thousands of 3" charms. If I cut them all in quarters I'd have 1 1/2 charms and I could make one too. But somehow I don't see it happening. LOL.

Fran, I have to say, cutting is the most boring part to me! I keep saying I'm going to cut all my scraps into specific sizes. Then I get bored with it in about an hour.

Sure you won't. If it is a leader/ender does it count as a new quilt, or using up stash?

I didn't realize the rules say if you use your stash it's not starting a new quilt. Freedom!

Donna, yours is a very cool quilt! It's very similar to the one I have been cutting 1-1/2" squares for for years. I've got them in baggies according to color. I have no idea how many I have, but one of these days I'll have to count them.
