Photo gels to warm up cool lights?

We just installed under cabinet lighting and it is just a lot cooler than I expected. The light is called soft white. They are 3” puck lights. I can live with it, but I just found a website that said using photo gels can add warmth to light. I would just cut a circle of the photo gel and put it in the light cover. Has anyone ever had luck with this or is it too good to be true? The sheets are inexpensive so it wouldn’t be a huge investment. We do have the lights on a dimmer which helps but it is still pretty harsh lighting.
