gray everywhere help!!

we recently moved into our new house it's painted Olympus white but it looks gray. anyways I bought these wall panels they are distressed teal and grey wood. we are thinking of painting one of these and see how it turns out but I'm worried it will get ruined, like do we sand it down or just paint over it? what color should we do, I like white but everything is white in here our cabinets, trim and doors, I'm over it. should I keep the colors as they are for now or just return them?? my husband wants green but I don't see that coming out well. I would like it to brighten up,the space to me it blends in with the interior paint, dark and dingy if the Windows aren't open. the plan is to eventually paint the house a different color but we've tested many colors of blue and beige nothing looks right, so the paint might be here until we move in 10,yrs.

also I'm not sure if these curtains work, there is grey in it, but I can't have just a liner hanging up for the rest of my life until I find curtains that might work from Marshall or Tuesday morning. I won't but offline I have to see it in person. our couch has like a yellow tint and it drives me insane. I'm not a colorful person I'm into blues, greens and neutrals but can't see blues or greens in my curtains or wall paint as something I would like. I'm so frustrated and it doesn't help my baby will be here in December.
