What would you do?

Hi friends, me and my wife have been living in this house for the last 3 years and we're able to save up some money to fix some things. The first is a pantry way in the hallway. This pantry has sliding doors that fall all the time. What are some suggestions that we can do to replace old sliding doors found in usually rooms for closets ( first image)

The second thing that we wanted to do, was fix the master bedroom. Inside of the master bedroom there is not much space to put your bed so you only have one option when it comes to placement which is in the middle of the right wall of the room( as you enter the room). If anyone has a better suggestion for placement please let us know.

The issue is, the placement of the bed is directly in front of an ensuite (I think )

We thought about closing it off but there doesn't appear to be enough space in the room at least for a door to be opening. In between the opening there's probably about 10 in of space if we could technically fit a door in the space. Also, it would seem pretty strange because there is a closed-off toilet with its own door. So, you would have a door that opens into another door

Anyways, this is the problem that we're having and I've seen other post where people have given great suggestions on how to resolve these quirky designs in people's houses.

for the closet, you could do bifold doors, double doors that swing out, or another type of sliding door

as for the ensuite, you could do a pocket door,

or do a sliding barn door w/any type of door you wish. when open, the door could sit in the space to the left

your bedroom could benefit from less heavy, bulky furniture. as for bed placement, it would appear thats the only spot unless you want to block the window.

look at pictures of bedrooms on here to see what style you like. something without a bulky headboard, footboard and nightstands would do wonders to open things up a bit.

Fantastic ideas, do you know if anyone has done pocket doors to move into a ensuite?

I have one on mine. This was a complete bathroom remodel so during framing we put one in.

It's a bit of a pain to retro do one, as you need to get inside that wall and possibly move electrical and redo the drywall and trim. But, it's the best space saver.

As far as the bed placement, the only option it appears is in front of the window. However, you know that you'd block valuable daylight.

Why do they fall? It could be an easy fix, maybe needs rails? take a look.

Maybe make the bed?! And is that a closet with the curtain rod and shirt?

Not necessarily strange, that's pretty common, and useful. Look at adding a door there, it can be bi-fold to save space.

Tricky challenges. Thoughts on the bed.

Get a different headboard/ no footboard and Put in front of the window. A style that will let light come through the headboard and not block so much light. If you put the bed in front of the window, you could also put floor to ceiling drapes across that wall, right up to the edges of the window. This would give the wall lovely color, texture and prominence in the room.

See if a diagonal placement would work in your room. It is hard to make this placement look right, but a few photos below that show how storage, lighting or just a decorative back drop might help.

You could also use curtains instead of a door in the ensuite- gives it a softer look

I disagree with some comments above. Diagonal placement of the bed. Gains nothing, and gives you unuseable, non ergonomic corners and angles. The bed at the window with an open frame backrest would be awfully uncomfortable, and not in any case improve flow. The best option is probably what you have, or possibly opposity the window.

Diagonal bed placement was a horrible 90s hgtv thing. Don’t do it. It makes a room seem half the size.

Just put a door on the bathroom/closet entrance. It’s perfectly normal to have one there and peculiar not to.
