I am confused it looks like the door opens into what should be the LR so why did you put your bedroom there?It looks like there aew windows in both spaces

Hi Lindsey, I just added my floor plan which shows my bedroom on top. There is indeed a window next to my bed but it looks straight into the building next to it and it feels really to dark so spend time in during the day. But if you have any suggestions I would definitely love to hear them!

I can't really get a clear picture of the space from what you have provided. But maybe you could use some sliders to close off the area - some sort of sliding doors, maybe barn doors - there are many options with that. But, again, really need a better idea of the space. Personally, I would not care if there was absolutely zero light in the entry room - I would not make that my bedroom. You can bring in artificial light - all sorts of lighting options to compensate for that. You can also create a lighter/brighter feel in the space with paint colors and décor. Perhaps seriously consider switching the rooms. Other than that - post pics of the actual space. You may get more suggestions that way.

Hi Patricia, when I looked at the place it was presented to me with the bedroom in front. Because the other room is langer, has an open kitchen layout and a balcony (bottom left) it is more ideal as a living room but I agree that the bedroom in the front doesn't make a lot of sense either.

Really, I would use the bedroom as the living space despite the bad view and poor lighting. Add lamps.

Use the living area as your bedroom. Get a wardrobe system from Ikea to create a wall between the kitchen and the bedroom. I would position it perpendicular to the right wall, extending 7' or so and leaving a gap between the back side of the wardrobe and the wall of the utility room.

Or turn your bed so the head is on the other wall, if your room is too short for it to go on the window wall and still leave room to open the wardrobe doors.

I believe you may have to settle for a small bedroom with partitioning, but that may be best so you can have more living area. I would position your bed in the space you had shown now except put the headboard on the wall opposite the window, put in a partition system like what Lindsey paralell and put in an actual bedroom door. You could build your closet system around, in front of that window area and obscure it. I wouldn't worry about the lighting for the bedroom because there's so much you can do with lighting, even imitating natural daylight. I would remove the sliding door that you described and leave an open walkway there.

Five or six of these and some drop cloths, you could make yourself a little vestibule.

Everything is one! You do not have a bedroom! A Bedroom is a separate room of a Dwelling where one sleeps! You can have a bed area But Never a bedroom! Deal with the front door!

Absolutely move your bed to the back room. @miss lindsey (She/Her)'s suggested bed placement w/ free-standing wardrobes or bookcases to separate that space from the kitchen is perfect. Looks like you'd still have room for a small seating area along the back left wall in addition to the living room in the front. I say embrace a cozy living room with lamps if natural light is not its strong suit.

Can you take a pic of the front entrance so I can see exactly what you speak of because from the beginning it sounds like a studio apartment?
