Guess I'm a club chair person. I don't like the looks of recliners as I think they are cumbersome and old fashioned and they require more space. Club chairs with an ottoman for your feet are a more tailored look and anyone, no matter their size or shape, can sit comfortably. Nice start to have those chesterfield sofas!

Recliners. Many companies make very stylish, comfortable recliners. I agree the person who will be using it the most needs to sit in it.

That depends on who will be using the chairs, and how much space you have. If you have enough space, recliners are comfortable for most people, unless you're really short. Another thing...I have weak hamstrings so I can't put the footrest down in most big huge recliners without getting muscle cramps, so I usually have to get someone else to get me out of the chair! Make sure the mechanism is easy to operate for everyone, or get a smaller recliner that looks like a club chair. I personally like a club chair with an ottoman because it's easier to get out of and is more versatile.

There are very cool recliers yhat are not bulky looking at all and some even have electric help for opening and closing. I do agree to ask the people who would be sitting in the chairs but I would want them to match.

Wife especially but me also need to keep feet elevated as much as possible for medical reasons. We plan to replace a sofa and chair with power reclining models for our living room. I hate handle operated recliners that are hard to raise up and a pain to get down. Power recliners are good for your feet, easy to raise or lower, and are convenient if you have arthritis in hands or feet.
