The oven is oddly placed and the chrome trim makes it more apparent and an eyesore. Make the chrome pieces black so that it doesn't stand out as much. The column is another oddity. It is obviously structural so you can't remove it. But you can do something to minimize its presence (darker paint) or use it as a frame and basis for some sort of art installation. I see these two issues being more problematic than furniture selection.

The oven is a bit low but painting stainless black would look hideous the other piece is a wine cooler. As for the pillar I think furniture comes before that since it is not moveable. The lighting needs to addressed but not until furniture is chosen. I went to your idea books I found it interesting that all the kitchens you like were light and what you have is so dark. The rest of the idea books show a nice classic / contemporary style so go back to those for inspiration and IMO a designer could really help when the job is a bit overwhelming
