Build in a seat with storage? Somewhere to put blankets, seasonal pillows, games, or toys. You can put some wonderful family photos on canvass above- they are light weight - in case someone bumps them at some point. Or put a large leafy plant on the built in bench in the corner and some decor. I'm not for built in shelving unless it's closed and light up. There is electic there - that wouldn't be that hard. ...or a big fake fern in the corner to hide the step will a little seat next to it?

I really agree with Beth. Its a brilliant idea... Personally, I would like to put a mirror in the front of the book' reader.

Put a single vase in the corner of the bookcase. Just put one vase, maybe you can put it in the right corner.

Beth's idea is lovely, yes a reading nook would be perfect, not to keen on the mirror idea though.
