Grass cloth is an upper end luxury material that requires expert installation in several steps. Is there anything about that that sounds like peel and stick?

pre-pasted doesnt mean peel and stick. it means you roll it in water in a tray, book it, and hang it. as opposed to having to put paste all over the back with a big brush.

now the OP may mean peel and stick, but thats not what they said.

And who immerses grass cloth in water???? No one that doesn’t want ruined wallpaper. You don’t get it wet. Ever. The only way out of doing it the correct old fashioned way is peel and stick. Which ain’t happening for $300 a roll wallpaper.

Grass cloth does not come with a prepasted backing and the adhesive is put on the wall for many reasons, one of which is to avoid glue getting onto the face of the paper. It is strongly recommended also that the walls be primed first. Also grasscloth expands once you hang it up, so it is always best to lightly wet back of the paper; this will make it expand before hanging it up so that there were no bubbles. Mistakes are costly with papers costing between $50-$250 per single role and an experienced hanger is recommended.

Wow...I'm afraid to ask any more questions...those first two comments were quite aggressive. NOT looking for peel and stick. Thank you for the helpful/constructive comments at the end.

Even a decent paperhanger, but one who had never hung grasscloth before, had a really tough time, and ruined a lot of paper putting it up in my parents' house.

There are vinyl and paper versions of "grasscloth" that are textured and some of them are nice looking, but some of these are actually more expensive than grasscloth paper. (Phillip Jeffries, Wolf-Gordon).

But for the real thing you want to use a specialist.

And you reverse the hang with each strip. Seams show, which I love about it.

Ten years down the road if you are tired of the color, you can paint it.
