Need advice on window trim

Current trim throughout my house looks like the door trim in the photo: 1x3 on the sides of doors and windows, then a 1x4 on top sandwiched between two 1x2s laid flat. Baseboards are all 1x4.

Problem now is knowing what to do with these windows that are so close together. If I follow the same pattern, there will be a narrow strip of wall between them remaining, but the stools and caps might almost be touching. If I make the center strip one giant piece (would have to be roughly 1x7), would that look odd with the outside casings only 1x3?

Any suggestions or examples would be appreciated.

Make the stools and caps single piece to span both windows. Add side trim to the outsides.

If the result looks 'off' or 'wrong'(subjective values---pretty much your/wife's opinion), add a solid center(without trying to match the side trim profiles).

If that looks off, try making a center with the profiles in a solid piece.

If all those options are not acceptable, replace the window with a single window(means new bigger header/etc)---a LOT more work.

There are some great options on the photo section of this site. HandyMac's advice is good - choose the most likely option, construct it, live with it for a few days and if it's not right, change the design.
