Would you use a coffee station? You could put your coffee maker there, mugs on a mug tree or pretty tray, filters and sugar in the drawer...

Or a snack station with the microwave on the counter, popcorn and all other snacky things in the drawers. Keeps snacker out of the way of cookers. Also gets the microwave from above the stove which is a bonus to me though maybe not for you.

If you bake a lot it could be a baking station with stand mixer on the counter, baking supplies in the drawers. It's a bit far from the oven for that maybe...

If you have pets you could turn the bottom drawer into a food bowl drawer, the middle into food storage, the top for brushes, leashes etc. an place their bed in the knee hole. The shallow drawer could house all their documents, any meds, etc.

Would pull out drawers for garbage and recycling be in the budget? You could remove the desk base and add pull-outs. They're so convenient.

I love that area for a desk as it's got such a great window for gazing out while working on the computer. But if you aren't using it that way....

It's right between intersection of kitchen and dining room. Can you make this into a bar? If you don't drink, then a serving station? Kind of a mini-Butler area? Put in a mini-fridge under the desk? For alcohol or for sodas? Or an ice maker? Install glass shelves across the window, for glassware? Placemats and napkins in the drawers.

Oh and actually I see what lindsey is saying.. the trash needs a home that's integrated. But I fear that spot is too far away from sink/ prep area to be useful for trash, though would work for recycling since it's near the fridge. Our recycling is steps away in a pantry, so this could work.

A carpenter could close the knee-hole area in and add a shelf and doors to give you more storage. During our recent kitchen remodel, I had my built in desk changed to have six drawers. Since it's near the breakfast area, it's a great place for table linens.
