they don't have to match. just do something similar if you can. have you thought about doing some recessed lighting, in the laundry room?

Hmmm I did not think of that. I will have to check with my electrician but my husband will probably say no since he can replace fixtures himself without an electrician.

And if I do go with fixtures, can they be the same, or should they just coordinate? And can it be the same as the hallway or is that all too matchy-matchy? I prefer to just pick one and run with it but didn't know if that is good idea or not design wise.

well if he can, check into putting in a retro fit recessed LED housing. they sell them at Costco. he could prob do two of them in that room.

IMHO, matching fixtures is fine. If they don't match, then similar style fixtures, like in the photo you posted, will maintain a nice visual flow.

He said no to recessed lights. I think I will get some sort of semi flush fixtures just to update the room a little bit. Thanks so much to both of you for responding.
