Try Craigslist or ask around to see if there might be somebody local that is already doing worm composting. I think must of us are happy to talk with someone trying to get started and would probably be willing to give you some.

I gave my neighbour a good handful to put in their compost bin and their bin is loaded with worms now, and that was 2 years ago!

If you find a compost or manure pile and dig in, you’ll probably find some. Or just piles of lawn trimmings sometimes. Of course you could buy some worms, but neglected piles are often a treasure trove of compost worms. If they’re smallish, reddish and living in compost, they’re compost worms.
