Furniture Placement / Rug Size

We are moving to a new (to us) home, and I'm hoping to get some advice with furniture placement and rug size. The fireplace and television are on separate walls. We are doing a pretty extensive amount of renovating to the home, so I would like to keep my current furniture if possible. My sofa is approximately 7' 5" x 3' 3" and I have 2 chairs that are 3' 9" by 3' 3". I'm open to adding additional pieces.

I've added photos of the floor plan, as well as a couple of photos from the previous owner. Her rug in the photo was a 10x14, but I'm wondering if I could go a little larger. I would really like to have my furniture completely, or at least mostly, on the rug.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Once you venture over 9x12 in size, fewer styles are available and the price starts to rise significantly in price.

I read somewhere on Houzz, etc., that for a good rug size, do floor plan then measure length and width of furniture placement and that is the size of the rug..... another option in to have broadloom carpet cut the size you need and bind it or add a carpet border to get the size you need.....there are probably more options but these two are the ones I have seen more.

BeverlyFLADeziner - I am definitely having a harder time finding a 12x15 rug. Luckily I have an affiliation with a flooring company, so I will likely just do a cut and bound rug. Thank you for the visual, it definitely helped with perspective!

Susan Davis - I love the furniture measurement guide for the rug size, thank you! I am probably going to use broadloom for the rug, having a tough time finding anything that would otherwise work. I appreciate the photos you added! The first one was great, I hadn't thought of putting a piece of furniture to the left of the fireplace - my only concern is that this may block the view of the fireplace from the entrance foyer. Maybe not. I'll have to play around with that.
