A slide in range without a lot of electronics?

I have been looking at ranges for our new kitchen renovation, and I was looking at the consumer reports highly rated Samsung slide in models with convection. However, then I started reading some of the reviews, where people noted that the entire motherboard needed to be replaced in the first year.

We have a 1960's era gas stove with the second oven on top...and it has been cooking well since then! The upper oven does burn things on the bottom and the clock and timed bake does not work very well, but overall it is a nice working appliance.

Now my husband is worried that we will replace an oven that works (and has been working for 50+ years) with one that will need to be replaced again after 10 years because the electronics will go bad.

Are there any stoves out there that when you turn the knob, the stove goes on no electronics needed?

There are all gas ranges that do what you want, usually the "pro-style" or very low-end ones. Mid range ranges (and many pro and cheap ones) usually have electronics. I don't think you'll get any timers without electronics though.

I think most electronics are okay--my problem with them is that when you use the oven, they need a fan to cool them so they are noisier than those that don't need a fan.

I have an American Range gas stove (nice enough range but I do not recommend it due to abyssal customer service) which is a knockoff of better ranges like Bluestar. It has electronic ignition I guess, but burners can be lit with a match in a power outage. You flip a switch to get the convection fan in the oven going. No circuit boards, no clocks, no frills.

I have a Bluestar wall oven and a Wolf induction cooktop. Both are pretty simple, and it appears you could replace the one board the Bluestar has yourself if it ever became necessary. In addition, because there are two appliances, you can always use one should the other one break. I really dislike bending over a range to pull items from the oven--takes all the fun out of cooking.

Check out Thor...great stove, the only electronics is electronic ignition...which I heard is required now. Everything else is just valves! Love it!

We've had two brand new electric free standing stove and both within 2 to 3 years electronic panels have gone out on oven. I really don't want another with this panel, I'm so done, the ranges we've bought are not cheap but to replace a panel is. Bad products.

Pretty much everything is run with electronics today - gas models will have the fewest electronics, if you want gas. Personally, I'd rather have electric induction than gas (safer, cleaner), but they do have more electronics.
