IKEA hemnes daybed advice

What's been your ownership experience like?

I am skeptical of the build quality but love the functionality. Is there another brand that makes this same exact kind of bed (twin daybed, converts into a same level double and has storage in either forms)? Not looking for something very expensive, but won't mind paying a few hundered bucks extra for better quality and ease of set up. Unless of course, the IKEA version is sturdy for two adults.

I have a brimnes day bed from ikea and really like it, style and functionality wise with the drawers and options to convert. Im good with the quality especially for the price point and a piece I dont use regularly. Ive only made it into a full size a time or two and worked great. Hope that helps or at least gives you a bump for others to weigh in.

Don’t own one but saw one in person at IKEA a few years ago. Many IKEA products are made mostly from particleboard, which I don’t like. The Hemnes line of products is primarily made of wood (typically Pine) rather than particleboard. I think it would be fine.

We have several items, bookcases, bench, from the Hemnes line, and they are all heavy and well made. I don't anticipate any issues with them at all.

BTW, we got an Ikea bed and mattress 18 months ago, and it's the best mattress we have ever had. For a 10th of the price of our last mattress, too.

My wife and I used that bed for our foster daughter (from 16-19), and she would often have her best friend over and they would both sleep in it just fine. She is pretty tall so I wasn't sure it was going to work but it always worked out great. No durability issues. As long as you put it together well and don't get unlucky enough to have one that has issues (there are always a small percent with issues in any mass manufacturing industry) then you will be very happy with it, all things considered.

I definitely would never say it was the best bed or mattress ever (sorry sushipup) but it worked just fine. No complaints from us and our foster daughter and her friend are definitely the picky sort and she loved her bed. We did some craft projects to truly make it hers and it served extremely well in our side room. She just moved out to go to UCLA a few months ago and we are contemplating upgrading to a nicer, more modern daybed that will match the rest of our home decor. Any suggestions?
