Don't get a jute rug for the bedroom. It will feel scratchy on bare feet. I agree it has lovely texture, but I think you'll regret it from a comfort standpoint. If you like the look, you can get a wool faux sisal area rug which gives you the same texture but still is much softer underfoot.

Most I've seen (in my price point) have a similar pattern to the duvet or something I'm afraid might be too busy (even if it's a neutral beige).

Not necessarily. If wool rugs are too pricey, try making an area rug out of FLOR squares. They've got a bunch of textured styles and you can configure them online for the size you need. Something like this could work.
