Good Drooping Rosemary for Cooking?

last modified: 8 years ago

I want to grow Rosemary hanging off the sides of a tall planter. Where are some good varieties that will drape over the side of a container and have good culinary characteristics? Should I buy these as juvenile plants or as seed?

Regarding soil, apparently these like an alkaline soil. I tend to like well-draining cactus soils, like the "gritty mix" that is popular on container gardening. What pH should I be shooting for, and what are some good ingredients to use in rosemary soil?
