Hmm.. that's not what I see when I look at purple.

I kind of like purple but only for pens and a few clothing items but no where else.

I was just hoping as I opened the link that it wouldn't be a mauve. I do like purple though.

I painted a wall in my laundry room purple, but it's more of a plum. Otherwise I'm not a big fan of purple.

I love, love purple, many many shades of purple..I love plum augergine mauve you name it I probably love it..not Barney purple though:) and this one also misses the mark for me..kinda..reminds me of that sad song, popular when I was a kid..about how people in some spaceship miss the Earth..))

maybe I can see it on some materials in small quantities..like was with Marsala..decor-no..bag or shoes-divine..

I saw that and cringed. I can just see a HUGE purple sofa in someone's all gray room and then they will be asking how to "introduce another color" into the room. Sigh....

There are nicer purples. There are even nicer purples in that image. Grape cough syrup. Mmmm.

I don't dislike the color but I wouldn't use it in my house. The color makes my eyes look really blue so I definitely would wear an ultra violet blouse or sweater.

How do they determine the color of the year? Throw darts at a color chart?

I actually look really good in this color. So, I may buy a sweater in it, but there is no way on this earth that I’m going to put that color anywhere else in my house! No walls painted that color. No ultraviolet sofas, chairs, throw pillows, etc., God forbid! It may look great in somebody else’s house, but I sure the heck don’t want to live with that in mine!

Kinda looking forward to the color making inroads in fashion (very, very tired of olive green). In home decor, not so much.

I love purple!!! Especially deep mysterious purple with shades of apple and olive green. My hair was similar to that shade of ultra violet for about a year and it was really flattering because my eyes are sort of greyish/hazel/blue and my skin is pinkish with blue undertones. But I'm back to brown so I hope maybe there will be some great purple fashions this year! I likely wouldn't paint with that color, but I would like it as accent.

I've seen it paired with a yellow gold. It looks fine but I wouldn't use it in my house.

I like gold too! Our master bedroom curtains are dark gold. I'm hoping to replace our sofa with one that is mustard or dark gold leather. Our house is mostly dark blue/warm greens and gold.

The ultra -violet is tough to add to a decorating scheme...unless you have an all gray and white house! It's probably a very welcome change to warm it up by adding purple to something like that.

Lynn, I look good in purple too (do you have fair skin and brown hair and blue eyes?) and I could possibly use it on a front door (if I drank enough wine before I made my final decision) but otherwise its not in my home decorating scheme.

LOL, Janie! Yes it would take quite a bit of wine! And, yes, I have brown hair, fair skin, but very dark brown eyes, not blue.

I painted my upstairs guest room SW Awesome Violet. I slept up there for 7 months during my renovations. In a bedroom, it's very restful. My friend, who stayed a week in that bedroom, said she slept better than at home and wondered if the color had helped her.

I like purple, but I'm not brave enough to commit to a wall of that color. My dining room is Amethyst Sky and I love it -- at some times of day it's a subtle purple color, especially in the shadows, others it trends more toward grey.

If I'm feeling especially brave, I may do a few throw pillows in this color.

Well I'm excited to see this trend next year. I have purple everywhere on my lower level. A huge wall in the living room I painted sw quixotic plum. Other than that mostly accents. Pillows, drapes, dishes, wine glasses, pendant lights, kitchen aid mixer. Also planning on using purple when we re do the master.

I think the purple and gold is a specialty of LSU Tiger Fans. The shades on that lamp are a nicer variant. The silk used there on a dress or tie would be nice.

I can see it fashion, for certain, which is what these Pantone COY are used for as well. 2017 was greenery and I don't recall a huge wave of greenery being used (other than the natural type).

For home, I think it tends to push to boudoir and even into bordello/nightclub if not used with restraint. Or a child's room.

Oooh, that first room is lovely, Gooster. Not for me , but done beautifully. The second one, though, looks (to me!) like something some sleazy director or actor might have.

Having just painted a room purple, hard for me to be critical -- but this color seems like a passing trend that could be passed before it even gets going :)

I don't mind the deeper, darker or greyer versions of purple -- the grey room with the purple chairs and accents that @Gooster just posted looks nice to me, don't think its quite the same shade.

that was the point i was trying to make i guess..in my mind lol..in fabrics, purples will look more muted-more noble too I believe-due to quality of fabric itself, it being soft material, reflecting light differently

so on the walls i go for grayed purples, muted somewhat..in the fabrics etc i mix many but they look softer just being velvet, embroidery, cashmere, seagrass..

if i was choosing purple glass though i'd go with warmer verson like plum

even though this particular violet plus gold can make for a very handsome combination. the sky seems a bit less lonely that way..with stars..

I like it. I wouldn't have much more than a pillow inside my house, but I'd wear it. In fact, it's almost the exact shade of my shampoo that helps keep brassy tones out of my gray hair. I look good in the right shade of purple, and that takes a little experimentation.

We have twice-blooming iris plants that drip that shade of purple and that actually do smell like grapes, oddly.

Big LSU fan here, and I would not do a purple and gold living room. :)

I like purple...the pantone shade is a little deeper than my laundry room...

...but not so deep as my library.

Ah, purple. Back in 1969 or so, my mother and I applied a groovy purple and orange wavy op-art wallpaper border around the middle of my 9 year old brother's purple bedroom. He loved it. Good times.
