Pebble Floor Needs Sealer

This floor is 3+ years old. It was sealed when it was installed but it didn't stop the grout (which is a light grey color) from looking 'dingy". I'd like to reseal it & get a shine on the pebbles.. My questions are:

I can steam clean using my Bissell steam mop & let dry thoroughly, or do I need to have it professionally cleaned w/an acid type grout cleaner or similar?

Any advice would be appreciated. I really love my floor, but it never looks clean. Thanks in advance.

it's looking pretty 'grungy'. I'd call in a stone restoration expert and see if they can do the pebbles like they do marble and such. They will give everything a sanding and cleaning and do a re-seal.

I had these pebbles for 10 years. The thing to remember is the grout needs to be cleaned often to keep it from staining. never use bleach as it will pit the grout.

sealer needs to be reapplied at least once a year. Have you tried the grout cleaner/acid products? you need to wear protective gear for the heavy duty products. I'd spend the few hundred and call in a pro who is familiar w/pebble rock.

Can you recommend a San Diego area pro?

I got a quote of almost $1000 for 35 s.f. That is absurd. I will install a new floor instead.

You cant just change the floor out like the rest of the bathroom theres alot that goes into a shower floor with the pan/waterproofing

that's ridiculous. my guy redid my marble shower floor for less than 200. yours shouldn't be any more than that. call some other companies.

And you can just 'redo' the floor in the shower without compromising the other tiles or the waterproofing. and certainly not for less than 1K! demo alone would be half that.

I think deep cleaning first then it's called color matching the grout. I told them to shove it. By the way you can't hire a house cleaner in San Diego to clean a 1 BR apt for less than $150. And they do a lousy job. :( So $1000 was not a surprise. Absurd, but not a surprise.

were they going to use a product on the grout? they sell the stuff called 'grout renew' in the store. (HD< LOWES< ETC) I don't think it's more than $25 or so.

I sure wish my guy went to San Diego.(I did ask him for you) He did my entire floor and only charged me $125! completely sanded all of it and applied new sealer. took him about 2 hours too. I know he gave me a small break, but that 1000 price tag is a joke, even for your part of town.

if you can't find anyone cheaper than that, perhaps I could ask my guy to go down there. you could entice him w/more than he gets here, but less than what you find down your way. It would be a 1hour 45 mins drive for him, but he may do it for the right price ;)

Thanks-but to pay for travel seems unneccessary. I will look for another guy to do this.

yes,,that's why I prefaced it w/ "if you can't find anyone for under that price you were given". good luck.
