Citrus defoliation + identification

Hi, all! Today's my first day on the forum. I've sought for some time to glean ascertainable info on citrus after having bought a variety pack of plugs early this year. Try as I might, I can't seem to keep them all alive. Of the 6, 4 are thriving. Two specimens (the two that didn't arrive labeled at that!) have defoliated (arid conditions in grow tent??) and one's fared particularly terribly.

The stem, now necrotic (Proper terminology??) is beginning to decay while the lower bit seems stable.

I've got experience in growing evergreens, typical zone 5 flora, and houseplants, but not citrus. If there's an active community here, I'd love to contribute!

Also: please bear w me as I learn the lexicon. I have no formal edu.

any relevant resources are GREATLY appreciated!
