Hi, I'm hoping you can help with some advice on my apple Espalier i've just started. I Planted a few months back (in Sydney Australia BTW). I cut the whips at the first wire. They then started sending out shoots and growing nicely. This one howevew got hit by bugs for a bit which stopped growth, when it got over that and started again the shoot on the right just ceased growing.I was hoping for two branches to be growing along this bottom wire. I'm hoping to go for a candelabra pattern eventually.

What should i do, cut it right back just above the first branch and hope for another branch to grow at the first line? Or do i fold it over and tie the main leader to the bottom line? Or something else?
