On the first real snowfall of the season, I‘m about keeping my citrus babies warm.

As some of you mentioned, if indoor citrus are in terra-cotta, we have more risk of developing root rot because they get much colder. Also, plant growth will certainly slow down. In an attempt to get enough light, my plants are all squished in front of the windows.

During the day, the pots heat up nicely, but on cloudy days and at night, it’s quite chilly near the window.

I’m not repoting all of my plants to avoid the terra-cotta, but I want to avoid rot root. Would seedling Mats do the trick? I think they’d be enough to keep the chill out of the pots, if I put one in front of each window, but I’m no expert.

Anyone have experience with heating mats? Have brand recommendations?

Last year I had a pebble tray for humidity under each plant. I can’t do that and have heating mats, but I could just get a humidifier, since I hate the dryness of winter heat anyway.
