Has anyone installed Shaw Floorte?

I like one of their patterns better than anything else I've found but I'm having a hard time finding any reviews.

VERY helpful, thank you! So glad you guys like it, the pics look great.

I am looking at Shaw Floorte Uptown series, which is the newest line and is made in the USA. It is waterproof, floor score certified and is really gorgeous. Does anyone have this??? Here is the one I am looking at... (website photo)

Shaw Floorte Titan HD has 30 mil wear layer

Amy Williams Can you post pics of your Mt Everest floor. How do you like it?

Love it!! My dogs are the kind that could have 18 and still want the ball behind the couch and will scratch under the sofa to get to it. This floor has really held up in our loft which is where we ended up starting first.

We finished up our Shaw Antics HD Plus In Orso. We just love it. We have three cocker spaniels in the house and has been down for 3 months We even painted walls and the dogs walked through some latex paint and it scrubbed right up. I was amazed. I am highly satisfied with our flooring

Can anyone comment on the Shaw Floorte Pro 7 Series. I can find very little and no reviews. I also can't find a sample.
@Jill W - did you end up going with the Floorte Pro in the Upland Oak? If so, can you post pics please? We are considering that color and it would be great to see something other than the stock photo. If anyone else has an update on the wear of their Floorte Pro floor, I would definitely appreciate any additional feedback that you have. Thanks!

Dana Cline - How are the floors holding up after a year?

They are holding up great! There are a few scratches here and there (one under our dining table from one of the chairs) but we have 2 busy boxer dogs who have ran, pooped, peed, and puked all over and there is no damage. Haha. We are still happy with the floors!

Thanks Dana for the quick reply. Getting ready to do new home very similar to your layout/color scheme. What gray did you use on the walls? Also what appliances did you use. Are they matte black or slate? Appreciate your input! Think we are going with the Novara or Calabria Pine mixed plank. Have you had any issue with areas of direct sunlight? Do you keep windows covered?

We ended up doing the Shaw Floorte Novara, Same as Dana, in our basement and love it. Only scratch was from hubby’s drum foot petal that had sharp screws sticking through and you can’t tell unless up very close. Don’t mind the mess these were taken during kid/construction chaos. My hubby installed himself. He messed up the click in of the first section he did, but after I pointed it out, he was able to figure it out and redo it.

Looks great! Where did you get the white sliding barn door??

Hi Mark, we went with Samsung “black stainless steel“ appliances. We like them look of them and they seem to keep fingerprints at bay pretty well. The color of gray we used on the walls was called “snowglory” by Rodda. I will attach a pic of the swatch. I love the color of the walls

with natural light. But when other lights hit it, there is the slightest blue hue, which I didn’t want. It’s really hard to get a gray exactly the way you want it. But all in all, I like it with the white trim and flooring we chose :-) There are smaller areas where the sun hits the floor directly, but I cannot tell if it is being damaged at all from it.

We're just about decided on the Shaw Floorte Titan HD for about 1200 sq ft on our first floor. We have a friend who owns a flooring company and he says this is pretty good stuff. 12mm thick and a 30 mil wear layer. We have 3 exterior doors to this space, kitchen, half bath, and laundry. Two kids and a dog. Most trafficked area in the house. So we are looking for something durable, and at this price point (~$5.30/sq ft), we couldn't do waterproof engineered hardwood. Laminate wouldn't offer the waterproof feature we want for an area that sees wet/snowy boots and patio/pool traffic. For this Titan HD line, we like all of the Barnboard colors, and are leaning towards either Autumn Barnboard or Timeless Barnboard.

Will add pics as we hopefully start the job in a month or so.

Side note: we've installed quite a bit of flooring ourselves, mostly laminate but also porcelain tile. I find 12mm laminate to give the best results (Swiss Krono Buxton Harbor Oak was installed not once but twice for the nursery, once in each house) for bedrooms. Easiest installation I've ever done.) Tile...the extra labor involved adds quite a bit of time/labor.

Side note: We've also done a ton of painting, between the old house and the new one. Really like Fossil Grey (Glidden color I believe). We've used Pebble Grey, Granite Grey, Cadillac Pink and Pink Lemonade for the nursery. Brushwood Tan for the kitchen. Dining room, morning room, and den to get new colors picked out.

@dana thanks! I had hubby build the door based off a tutorial I had found online. He bought the hardware at Home Depot.

@Rocco Please post pictures and update. We are considering Titan HD in guardian oak for about 2000 sq ft on our new build home and would love any feedback or reviews.

wear layer does not = less scratches. ALL vinyl and SPC flooring scratch nearly the same. The paper pattern under the wear layer might be more protected, but you're never protected against scratches no matter what the marketing hype says. The scratches will always look shiny in the right light because the wear layer is urethane or aluminum oxide. Both have a foggy / milky appearance when scratched..

@Joey: Will be interesting to see how this Shaw Titan HD flooring wears. I did some scratch/gouge testing on samples of various brands. Wear and scratches aren't the same to me. We've probably all seen 30 year old worn linoleum. I've seen chipped laminate, especially in a kitchen. Hopefully this Shaw stuff holds up well. Honestly, I trust my friend who sells every type of flooring. He says this is a good product. Install will be in the coming weeks.

can you post a pic of the install when its done?

We just installed Shaw Equisite Floorte in Warmes Oak and it’s beautiful! You can really tell it is waterproof! Scratch resistant we’ll tell over time. Only issue we’re having is the stair noses and we have a lot, aren’t treated the same as the planks. The sheen and texture is different and easier to scratch! The company is trying to resolve this but I just can’t understand why the noses wouldn’t be treated waterproof or mainly scratch resistant. We have 3 kids and a large dog. I worry the stairs will show wear and tear but the rest of the stair will remain looking brand-new. Not happy about that :/

Can't seem to post pictures. We still have the trim to finish, but I'm very impressed with the floor so far.

Some really bad lighting in these pics, and taken during the install. Shaw Titan HD in Timeless Barnboard. Kitchen color is Brushwood Tan. Morning room is Grey Tweed. Dining room is Elegant Charcoal. Den (not really pictured) is Soft Feather Grey. Hallway to be painted Fossil Grey. Colors not very well represented. Overall everything goes together well. We were stuck with the kitchen counters and back splash, so wanted to keep some brown/tan tones. Highly recommend keeping the floor continuous if possible. The space, especially the entry/foyer/den/dining, looks so much bigger without two thresholds. Ha, I just noticed the little one is in a pic.

@Rocco Russo - looks great! Would love to hear how it wears. We went with Titan plus in guardian oak for our new home. It’ll be months before it’s installed (framing hasn’t started). After seeing your pictures and how happy you are, it feels like we made the right choice. Thanks for sharing!

Not sure of the differences between Titan HD and Titan Plus....but so far, no scratches with a dog, kids, and normal foot traffic. Chairs and table legs all have new felt pads.

im looking at Alto HD in Novara...anyone mind sharing more pics and your review??

if It’s easier you can email me more pics at haleyrlong@yahoo.com!! I would appreciate it soooo much!

I posted my pics above. We are loving it so far. Looking for something lighter to do upstairs. Wish they had a white oak look version of this product like their castlewood oak engineered hardwood but in spc! I haven’t cleaned down there in a while and it hides dust well. Let me know if you have specific questions

I'm late to the party but hopefully can get an answer. Contractor and designer are saying don't go with a vinyl product because it doesn't look like and feel like wood. To me it looks like wood. What do you think about the issue of it not feeling like wood when you walk on it? Is there a real difference?

Well I ended up getting Earthwerks Noble Classic in Oslo Oak and love it! I think it looks like wood. It has embossing that matches the wood grain on the plank. It doesn't feel like wood I guess but I like the way it feels on my feet. I find it to be comfortable. Its never cold in the winter. I would definitely use it again! Plus my boxer can run and slide all over with her nails and there is not a scratch in sight!

Hi, we went with Titan HD plus in guardian oak. It visually looks great and is one of the first things people notice. As with anything there are always pros and cons. I agree it doesn't feel like real wood. The darker color does show scratches which has been very disappointing as that was one of the biggest selling points. We have more scratches in 6 months than our dark engineered hardwood floor had in 2 years. The biggest benefit was we recently had a water leak and we were able to save and reinstall the floor verses having to buy new floor. Overall, if I were to do it again I would go with engineered hardwood floor. It looked and felt much more expensive. Good Luck!

    Titan HD in guardian oak

Engineered hardwood - I would pick this again over the Titan HD

Installing the Titan in Guardian Oak now (well, contractor is installing). Having a few issues with the ends locking into place and staying. Also a few spots where it looks like sizing is off just enough to allow the tan core to show in the bevels. Very small gaps, but in the right lighting, it is fairly noticeable given the dark color. Anyone else notice any of these issues?

    Rocco any wear updates?

Our floor is now over a year old and showing little to no signs of wear. One scratch were I think some grit got stuck under a kitchen stool leg. Otherwise holding up just fine. Lots of traffic too. This floor is our whole first floor except the family room. Two entries from outside and one from the garage. We do a lot of home projects, plus the dog and kids tend to track a lot of dirt and dust in.

Great thanks. Yea I am looking at a full install

That looks great Rocco. Do you notice any pattern repeats or are they varied enough so not an issue?

Paul I.: They are pretty varied, and I'm not sure how, but either the planks can install "reversed" or they use the same print flipped 180 degrees. If you're really looking for it, you can tell there are only so many different prints. But as installed, I'd say it looks pretty close to a wood floor.

@laurendevitis your floors are gorgeous. How have they held up to scratching and moisture? We have crazy dogs who like to chase and track in tons of snow lol

@Erick have you had any of the scratching issues with your Guardian Oak floor like @snaps08 mentioned? Install is starting tomorrow on ours so I guess there's no point in second guessing now, but I'm wondering if it's very scratch prone and how big of a pain it is as far as showing dirt / dust.

    last modified: 4 years ago

@Devin, our Guardian Oak has held up great. No scratches that I can see and that is with a dog, a cat, and two kids. We have felt on the bottom of all the furniture, but I did just check the bottom of the stairs where the cat and dog regularly chase each other with audible scratching as they rush around the corner. I couldn’t find anything. With the animals, we vacuum almost every day. It does show dust and dirt, but we’d rather see it and vacuum regularly than unknowingly walk through kid crumbs. :)
Our only issue has been the install concerns I mentioned. We get some movement at the end joints still, as they had trouble going together in spots. Shaw suggested CA glue as the solution, but I haven’t been brave enough to try that yet.

That's great to hear about the scratches and a good point about the dust! Thanks for relaying the tip about the CA glue, I'll make a mental note of that in case our installers run into a similar problem.

@Shannon Clark Its been awhile since this posting. But how has your Shaw Orso flooring holding up? Do you still love it? We are deciding between Shaw and Adura Max. The Orso texture is so different from all the other LVP we've seen. Is it easy to clean with the heavy texture? Curious what you think.

We bought the Shaw Forte as recommended by our local DO IT center as the premium product for our bathroom floor. We have had 3 different flooring people come to install and all took a look at these materials and walked away. They refused to stand behind their install work with this product, stating that they have seen nothing but problems with this flooring. Corner curling and material separation results in leakage and cracks forming in the floor. The tiles DO NOT click together as promoted. They simply overlap. My husband has laid hundreds of SQ FT of LVP flooring in 3 different homes. We have talked with the Corporate people at Shaw for advice, but can get nowhere.

We were sold on the statement by the seller that this material is used in industrial applications and holds up beautifully! We were told by the flooring install professionals that they have never seen these Forte floors last more than 1 year!

We have invested $700+ in materials and the seller refuses to take it back nor make any reparations. We have thrown that money away and must re-invest in different materials so we can get a bathroom floor! Do NOT buy this product!

Michael Lubbs, are you talking about Shaw Floorte? Was the LVP you bought a SPC or WPC? How thick was the mm of it? Some ga
