just to add - length is 161 from wall to corner- and breath 118 including the double oven

we have another wall on the side which has a fidge and small work table and we love that. also prefer keeping microwave somewhere close to stove

vishu0705, why not get a microwave that also provides the exhaust hood? Available everywhere.

I see a couple options. Not sure which will accomplish your location goal the best.

Microwave Drawer - a lot of people use these and seem quite pleased. I'm fairly certain they have child locks on them. You could put the drawer in your island.

Over counter - change your cabinet to the far left of your sink to a accomodate a microwave with a trim kit. This is quite a distance though from your cooktop.

Can I ask why you want the MW close to the stove or oven?

need microwave need stove as makes cooking easy... i cook a lot. and since our food is too many spices, we feel the exhaust on the microwave may not be good enough

I think that's a smart call vishu. You'll definitely get better performance from a dedicated vent. Also, when the combo MW/Vents are mounted at the correct height, they're too high for comfortable use for a lot of people.

I'm still unclear though as to why you want the MW close to the stove or oven.

so i usually steam all veg and then stir fry on the cook top. meaning most of want i cook goes 3-6 mins in microwave and then onto stove, so they have to be close to each other... indians cook a LOT! and gets spicy:))

Totally think a microwave drawer is the solution to the problems. It can go in the island. The controls on the top of the drawer when it pulls out and it is dream to operate. Good Luck.
