Hi Jenn! You deffinitely need more light in your dining room. I would suggest a lamp that gives light all around, not just up. You can also put 2 lamps instead of one, symmetrically to the table and hang them more or less 90cm from the top of the table. Hope that helps a bit! Good luck!

A chandelier with shades could work. I took out the decor placed on the side of the window. Room could probably benefit from solid color drapery panels.

The dining room is not really the correct location for wedding pictures

Select a light fixture that focuses the lighting down on the table and the food, not up on the ceiling. 4 candelabra bulbs a lantern for a dining room that has no additional lighting is an absurd suggestion.

We are working on finishing our kitchen which entailed completely knocking down walls and creating a complete open concept on the first floor... so I wanted something that would go with our dining room decor and be a little ‘fancier’ (I guess for a lack of better words) but that would still go with the lighting I am choosing for the kitchen. I will attaching the lighting I am thinking about using for above the kitchen island in a post below. Please let me know your thoughts.

This is what I am thinking for the kitchen. Our kitchen basically will look like that. Light cabinets...light countertops and backsplash.

9 lights would be a better choice. This fixture is available from many sources. It's a bit nicer to have a two tier fixture in a dining room.

Light gray and dark gray curtains might work too.

Make sure it's the right size for the room and that you have the 30" from the table top to make it fit. You can use black or bronze finish, but the black might be a bit harsh.

If I could only find a fixture in black, I would purchase some gold or silver Rub & Buff at Michaels and highlight the fixture to make sure it works with your mirror and accessories. See image below where Rub & Buff was used.
