Store Installed the Wrong Tile

We purchased a light travertine with gray brushed look in it. The installer has installed the brown looking travertine. We looked at the contract and it only says "light travertine". We are very unhappy with the look of this tile, should we expect the correct tile to be installed?

Absolutely! I had a granite bar top installed this winter, and they put in the wrong granite slab. It took some time but I was able to convince them to take it out and put in the correct one all at their cost. If the contract says light travertine, they should have clarified by showing you a sample, and not proceeding until you were agreed.

Yes! You should get the product you ordered, and withhold payment until you do.

Natural stone is just that, natural. Which means two stones are never going to be alike, even though it may be the same color... Were you not able to look at the Travertine before it was installed? Were you warned the color could vary?

I would assume they picked the slab they wanted as most people do. It should have been marked for their job, so they should have received the very slab they picked. Then it shouldn't matter that all stone is different. Of course, if they didn't pick a particular slab and left it up to a salesperson then all bets are off!!
